Two groups of 300 irregular migrants attempted to force their way into the territory of Melilla during the night of Monday to Tuesday at Barrio Chino and Tisemghine, said a statement from the Interior Ministry.
These groups did not comply with the customary warnings and proceeded to throw stones, causing injuries to three elements of the security forces, the source added. 98 people were arrested and 30 others were evacuated to Hassani Nador hospital to receive care for injuries caused by the barbed wire fences of Melilla.
It should be noted that the forests surrounding occupied Melilia are experiencing increasing pressure of illegal migration from the border with Algeria.
The Moroccan authorities reaffirm their determination to firmly fight against networks of human trafficking and for the rights and dignity of migrants, the source said.
