Still a lot of people try their luck for reaching Europe through Morocco. Although the majority of the travellers are subsaharan, there are more and more people from Morocco and Algeria as well who take the way via the street of Gibraltar these months.
Repression, raids and « hot refoulments » by military, the police and the Marine Marocaine, supported and financed by the EU and bilateral contracts with e.g. Spain become systematic. The raids take place in the forests of Melilla and Ceuta, the arrests in the bigger cities like Tanger, Nador or Oujda and again : deportations to Algeria !
It seems more and more frenquently, that the Salvamiento Maritimo leads pull- or push-backs : They spot a Zodiac and inform the moroccan Marine Royale who intercept the boat, even if it is already in spanish waters (e.g. the island of Alboran).
In the month of July at least 7 people went missing in the sea (2 bodies were found), one man died by the attempt of crossing the fences. Its rare that media reports the deaths, who completely disapear in the public conciousness.
The militarised fortress Europe continues the war on migrants at all the borders with so-called « security measures ». The deaths, the displaced, the imprisoned and the expelled are just part of the « collateral damage » of their criminal politics.

the revenge of moroccan authorities !
This friday the 1st of July the camps of Boulingo were attacked by the moroccan forces auxiliaires. Arrests took place and at least 3 people got injured, one of them severely and the shelters of the subsaharan migrants were destroyed. Apparently this came after the registered bozas, so the moroccan authorities raided the camps to satisfy their spanish counterparts.
Until 5.30pm moroccan time the severely injured person is still in the forest. We contacted the delegation for migration to take him to hospital. The responsable refused to do this. So we called the firefighters ambulance who said that they will do what is needed.
For that everyone takes their responsibilities.

“The European Council requests information from Spain about the summary expulsions from Ceuta and Melilla. The Commissioner of Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Niels Muiznieks, asked Spain for information on the lack of protocol of the Ceuta and Melilla police to end the deportation summary of migrants intercepted at barriers when there are attempts to pass, a practice that does not comply with the new regulations of the aliens Act, is contrary to the international legal order and continues to be implemented despite the warnings of institutions (…) The response of the Minister of Interior Jorge Fernández Díaz in this letter is overwhelming, denying any violation of any law and providing all guarantees in terms of respect migrants’ rights as asylum seekers. He emphasizes that Muiznieks “Regarding the ‘repression’ and ‘collective expulsions’ mentioned in your letter, our legislation expressly prohibits, ensuring the principle of non-refoulement. A separate issue is the right and obligation to Spain maintaining and protecting its borders, which in the case that concerns us, are also the external borders of the European Union, with the implications thereof for the safety of all its citizens “.
